The colour blue is featured in almost every scene, even if it's as small as the character's eye colour.
Forest Whitaker is the only one of the four main characters to not have blue eyes. He is also the only one to never enter the strip club where Rose-Johnny works. According to director Timothy Linh Bui, he cast Ray Liotta after meeting him in an Italian restaurant by pure coincidence. Even stranger was that Liotta was the only customer when Bui walked in. The film was shot on location in Los Angeles. Forest Whitaker was the first actor cast. He also served as a producer for the film. When Rose-Johnny and Jack talk by telephone through the glass, their reflections are always visible when they aren't in the shot. In The Silence of the Lambs (1991), this effect is also used between Starling and Hannibal Lector. Patrick Swayze's final feature film performance Jessica Biel got her stripper training at a Gentleman's Club called 4Play in Los Angeles, CA. |
