WITHERSPOON, GYLLENHAAL, BIEL AND TIMBERLAKE PARTY IT UP IN COLUMBIA

FITSNews - May 5, 2008 - Some of Hollywood’s hottest stars are being spotted all over Columbia, S.C. as filming on the movie “Nailed” continues in the capital city this week.

Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon and her boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal were spotted making out just outside of the S.C. Governor’s Office this afternoon, which is surprising because the last time we checked Witherspoon was a female.

Apparently, the pair were coming back from a Starbucks in the city’s Vista District, where they have been seen together on numerous occasions since the movie started filming on the State House grounds two weeks ago.

Sources tell us Gyllenhaal has also accepted an invitation from S.C. Governor Mark Sanford to join him and his family for dinner tomorrow night at the Governor’s Mansion, although actress Jessica Biel has yet to accept the governor’s invite.

Biel, who today was sporting a tight red dress as she frolicked on the State House grounds, has also been observed enjoying the Southern hospitality. Last night, she was cozying up with Justin Timberlake at the bar in Garibaldi’s, a popular restaurant in Columbia’s Five Points district. Filming on ”Nailed” has been delayed on several occasions, reportedly due to the “tyrannical style” of director David O. Russell.

Columbia (WLTX) — Would you like to be in Jessica Biel’s next movie? Casting officials for the movie “Nailed” are looking for a few good men, aged 30- to 80-years-old.

Organizers say the extras are needed for filing on Thursday, May 1, 2008.

Casting directors say many senior citizens are needed.

They are asking for those interested should email a photo and their contact information to the casting office at nailedcasting@gmail.com.

Fresh from being featured in David Talbert’s First Sunday with Tracy Morgan and Ice Cube, Soul Food’s Malinda Williams will be working with Morgan again as she just signed on to ‘David O. Russell’s romantic comedy ‘Nailed,’, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessical Biel.

In the film, Biel’s character Alice is a naive waitress who gets a nail shot into her head, causing erratic and outrageous behavior. She heads to Washington to fight for better health care and ends up falling for a clueless new congressman (Gyllenhaal) who must summon the political courage to save her.

Malinda’s character joins Jessica Biel and Morgan’s characters on a march to Washington, DC to persuade Congress to pass new healthcare reforms.

Also featured in the film are James Marsden and Catherine Keener. Morgan will play a an injured compatriot of Alice’s who has given up on love.

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - James Caan has left the political comedy “Nailed” after a dispute led him to storm off the set, and it all seems to have centered on a cookie.

The trouble started last Wednesday on the first of Caan’s two days of shooting the role of a U.S. speaker of the house who chokes to death on a cookie. Director David O. Russell asked him to cough as he choked, but Caan argued that the character couldn’t cough and choke to death at the same time.

Russell suggested that they shoot it both ways, but the veteran “Godfather” actor expressed distrust that his version would be considered and left the South Carolina set. A spokesman for Caan wouldn’t confirm or deny the specifics of what happened but said with a laugh that there were creative differences and the departure was amicable.

Producer Douglas Wick said the discussion was “part of an ongoing creative conversation between the actor and director” and that Russell has behaved professionally throughout the shoot.

Caan’s part is being recast. The shoot began April 15.

“Nailed” stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel, James Marsden, Catherine Keener, Tracy Morgan and Olivia Crocicchia in the tale of a woman who gets a nail lodged in her head and travels to Washington to fight for better health care.

Russell has a reputation for on-set battles. He had well-documented differences with George Clooney (in which the two came to blows on the set of “Three Kings”) and Lily Tomlin (in heated verbal exchanges on the set of “I Heart Huckabees” as seen last year on YouTube).

JAMES CAAN QUITS FILM, WILL HAVE TO BE RECAST

FITSNews - April 17, 2008 - We’re not sure how we turned into Access Hollywood today, but our source on the set of the movie “Nailed” just keeps on giving … and the lastest news is this: For the first time in a career spanning four decades and over ninety movies, actor James Caan has walked off the set of one of his films …

Citing differences with director David O. Russell, Caan left the set of the film last night and will have to be recast.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to bring you some news that has nothing whatsoever to do with this cursed movie soon …

FITSNews - April 17, 2008 - We know, it’s hard to imagine someone this manly throwing a hissy-fit, but according to our source on the set of the movie “Nailed,” that’s exactly what actor Jake Gyllenhaal did yesterday, causing the crew to shut down filming early and spend an additional day shooting at the South Carolina State House.

“He was complaining that the room was too small, complaining about the temperature, complaining about his chair,” our source says. “It was like watching a two-year old have a meltdown every five minutes.”

According to a source in the S.C. Treasurer’s Office, Gyllenhaal’s co-star Jessica Biel has by contrast been “delightfully friendly,” chatting up onlookers and even turning a few cartwheels on the State House grounds the other day.

Sources also tell us that S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford has invited the film’s stars to dine at the Governor’s Mansion with his family while they are in town, although he reportedly hasn’t received a reply yet.

One other thing, we can’t confirm or deny rumors that Sanford plans to pitch a feature film to Gyllenhaal based on the “Brokeback Fishing Trip” the governor took four years ago with State Sen. Chip Campsen.

Columbia (WLTX) — On Friday, Columbia police say three streets in the Capital City will be closed while film crews work on the movie “Nailed,” that stars Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Police say that on Two Notch Road between North Beltline Boulevard and Windover Street will be closed for parts of Friday, from 12 noon until 6 p.m.

A spokesperson for the department says the street will be closed and opened as the filming progresses.

They say crews will use a similar technique on Bronx Road, between Two Notch Road and West Beltline Boulevard, and Belvedere Drive, between Two Notch Road and Windover Street. Those streets will be closed and re-opened from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
